1: Keep Your Focus
In this light and airy beach home, it had been important to possess one cozy space for rainy days. We chose this textured wall covering for its depth of color and its ability to enrich the prevailing mill work. It creates an upscalecoastal palette while supporting the amazing Atlantic views outside. When performing on architectural surfaces, we wish to limit the amount of finishes during a given space. The wall covering guided us to color the window trim an identical color. It narrows the main target and puts the wall covering center stage.
2: Create a way of Calm
I really love the soft colors of this particular wallpaper. It’s calming, serene, and stylish while also maintaining a way of caprice and female modernity, which is strictly what I wanted for this space.
3: Make a press release
The pool house was the right place to dress up with my client’s favorite wallpaper, Flavor Paper’s Brooklyn Toil. We redid the floors in an attention seeking cement tile, therefore the humor within the toil was almost overlooked, unless studied. The coordinating blue kitchenette also vies for eyes, making this the right over-the-top spot for the bachelor’s pool parties. Sometimes a statement-making wallpaper just involves more statements.
4: Echo Your Space
The clients were especially pleased with their large scale export porcelain pieces, which lent a timeless, dramatic elegance to the present dining room. I chose this exquisite hand-screened wallpaper to echo the porcelain. While it is a decidedly traditional motif, the strong vertical bands of two very different blues lent a more lively edge to the composition. And whenever you’ve got an outsizes horizontal plane, like a board , contrasting vertical elements provide much-needed balance.
5: Bring the surface In
Since this room has windows on three sides and views of the pool, ocean, and dunes, we decided to show it into an ‘outdoor’ space by covering the walls and windows with a palm print from Sanders-on. The window placement and peaked ceiling made it a touch of a design challenge, which we solved by papering the ceiling and carrying an equivalent palm pattern throughout the space even on the lampshades.
6: Be Daring With a ladies’ room
Unlike many rooms within the home, a powder bath may be a space that the majority guests will actually enter. They’ll absorb every detail. From the way you design the walls to the alternatives you create for the mirror, sink, hardware, and fixtures, this room really matters. this is often an area I challenge a client to be daring.
7: Restore Where Possible
This antique was original. Because it had been so beautiful and in such fitness we chose to stay it. The exotic nature of the landscapes are the right backdrop for important English and American antiques. Although this wallpaper didn’t require substantial work, papers of such historical significance often require some level of restoration.
8: believe Texture
This wallpaper may be a hand blocked print from Cole & Sons wall coverings, and that i simply like it . Many of their papers are made up of archival and botanical historical images like this. i feel this paper is even more lovely face to face . There’s a soft textural quality thereto thanks to the hand block printing . The ink lays on top of the paper which provides it a subtle texture that you simply don’t find elsewhere.
9: Reach for the Sky
I chose this wallpaper because the trellis design gives an open see-through look to the ceiling, and that i thought the size of the pattern was the right size for the space. I prefer ceilings that don’t desire a lid to the space , so I always love adding color and wallpaper to them. I felt this trellis wallpaper supported the story I wanted to inform with this office of bringing the surface in. I even used the wallpaper on a vintage hanging lamp also .
10: Consider Custom If you’ll
In collaboration with Gracie, we designed this tradition wallpaper supported their Garden pattern. It’s a hand painted Chinese scenic wallpaper that we custom colored especially for this residence. Since the formal dining room is off the front room , it’s quite dramatic to open the doors and have guests be greeted by a gorgeous wallpaper like this.
